ORDINANCE 2024-07 An Ordinance to. Amend Chapter. 2, Article IVofthe Municipal Code ofthe CityofIrondale Section 1. AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE IV, DIVISION 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF IRONDALE. Chapter 2, Administration, Article IV, Mayor and City Council, Division 1, Generally, Sec. 2-132, Council Membership, ,ofthe Municipal Code of the City of Irondale is hereby amended to delete Sec. 2-132 in its entirety and replace it with the following: Chapter 2 - Administration Article IV - Mayor and City Council Division 1- Generally Sec.2-132.-C Council membership. The city council shall consist of five council members, who shall be elected by the qualified voters of the city voting by district. Section 2. AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE IV, DIVISION 2 OF THE MUNICIPALCODE OFTHE CITY OFIRONDALE. Chapter 2, Administration, Article IV, Mayor and City Council, Division 2, Council Meetings, of the Municipal Code of the City of Irondale is hereby amended to delete Sec. 2-148 through Sec. 2-150 in their entirety and replace with the following: Chapter 2 - Administration Article IV - Mayor and City Council Division 2 - Council Meetings Sec. 2-148. - General purpose. The rules of order of procedure herein contained and otherwise adopted by resolution of the city council shall govern deliberations and meetings of the city council. Sec. 2-149.-Date, time and place of regular meetings. Regular meetings of the city council shall be held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers at the city hall, located at 101 South 20th Street, Irondale, Alabama, 35210 unless changed by circumstances, motion, or resolution of the city council. Sec. 2-150. Pre-council meetings. In the interest of time during the regular city council meeting when there are several items on the council's agenda, the city council may hold pre-council meetings to discuss the agenda items for the regular city council meeting at the call of the presiding officer by serving proper written notice not less than 24 hours before the time set for such pre-council meeting. Section 3. AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 2. ARTICLE IV. DIVISION 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF IRONDALE. Chapter 2, Administration, Article IV, Mayor and City Council, Division 2, Council Meetings, of the Municipal Code of the City of Irondale is hereby amended to delete Sec. 2-154 through Sec. 2-155 in their entirety and replace itwith the following: Chapter 2- Administration Article IV- Mayor and City Council Division 2 - Council Meetings Sec. 2-154. - Presiding officer. (a) The president of the council or, in his absence, the president pro tempore, shall preside over regular, special and called meetings of the council. In the absence of the president and the president pro tempore at the hour appointed for any meeting, the city clerk or their assistant shall call the council to order whereupon a temporary chairman shall be elected by the members of the council present. Upon the arrival of the president or the president pro tempore, the temporary chairman shall relinquish the chair upon the conclusion of the business immediately before the (b) The presiding officer shall preserve strict order and decorum atall meetings ofthe council. When requested to attend, every effort will be made to excuse said professional from the meeting at the (b). That nothing in this ordinance or in the municipal code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed as cited in Section 4 of this ordinance; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by. this Section 7. ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE: COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER REGULATIONS This ordinance shall not be construed to modify or to repeal any other ordinance, rule, regulation, or other provision of law. The requirements of this ordinance are in addition to and cumulative to the requirements of any other ordinance, rule, regulation, or other provision of law, and where any provision of this ordinance imposes restrictions different from those imposed by any other ordinance, rule, regulation, or other provision of law, whichever provision is more restrictive or imposes higher protective standards for human health or the Section 8.
