BOARD OF SUPERVISORS BUDGET WORK SESSION May 7,2024 The Board of Supervisors of Floyd County, Virginia, held a Budget Workshop on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. int the Community Room of the Town of Floyd Offices. PRESENT: Joe D. Turman, Chairman; Jerry W. Boothe, Vice Chairman; Kalinda Bechtold, Linda DeVito Kuchenbuch, and Levi Cox, Board Members; Dr. Linda S. Millsaps, Kim Chiddo, Steve Durbin, Attorney and Danny Lowery, Manager ofIT Operations to Livestream and film the meeting. Agenda Item 1. - Meeting Called to Order. Chairman Turman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Agenda Item 2. - Opening Prayer. Supervisor Cox led the Opening Prayer. Agenda Item 3. - Pledge of Allegiance. Supervisor Boothe led the Pledge of Allegiance. Agenda Item 4. - Quorum Dr. Linda Millsaps called roll and a quorum was determined. Agenda Item 5. - Closed. A conversation ensued regarding the Tax billing process and the possibility oft the benefits of a finance board as well as moving the first tax date to June 26th of each year, leaving the December date the same. Dr. Millsaps discussed the dates for the public hearing: Onar motion by Supervisor Boothe and seconded by Supervisor Bechtold and unanimously carried to the approval of staff advertising for the Public Hearing for the Dr. Millsaps noted that the Public Hearing for the FY25 proposed tax is set for FY25 Proposed budget. 05/13/2024. 2 Dr. Millsaps presented the Board with further dates represented on the FY25 Budget Calendar which includes public hearings, regular meetings, tentative budget workshops, Supervisor Turman noted that people need to remember that "our" budget is contingent Supervisor Boothe added that he would like the board to consider reverting to having the school budget move from categorical to a lump sum: for the FY25 budget.
