1 QUEENSTOWN COMMISSIONERS April 24, 2019 PRESENT: President Thomas B. Willis, Jr., Commissioner Al Hardee, Commissioner Holger Schuster, Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan, and Amy Moore, Town Manager/Clerk. REGULAR MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M. GUESTS: Frank Russum - QVFD Mr. Russum was present at the Commissioner's: request to give an overview oft their funding needs for the upcoming year. Mr. Russum advised that they purchased ai new: rescue truck at the cost of $999,000. It was brought to Maryland at the end ofJanuary, and it currently having the equipment professionally mounted and having punch list items completed in Middletown, DE. There will be $200,000 of updated equipment added to the rescue. They paid $250,000 down, and plan to pay loan down within five years. He advised they are currently limited to size of equipment they can have due to the size oft the firehouse. They have been looking at land to purchase for the site ofa new station. Two acres should be sufficient for their needs. They have not brought in an engineer as of yet to design a site. QVFD is one oft two stations that physically house county emergency employees and they want to stay in Queenstown. They appreciate the annual contribution made by the Town. Faye Burns = Town Resident Ms. Burns is a member oft the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and they do projects on education and literacy. In conjunction with the Upper Shore Literacy Council, QAC High School students built 5 "little free library boxes" as part of the "Take a Book, Share a Book" program. She would like permission to have one installed ini town at the park. She would be the steward of the library. President Willis motioned to allow Ms. Burns to install the library box at the town park. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hardee. Vote: 3-aye, 0-nay PUBLIC WORKS - Amy Moore Finishing up work on Maryland Ave. project - grass seed and curlex by end ofthe week Lattice at porta-potty needs replacing and the scrub mulberry tree needs to be removed. Pat Bowell advised there were two holes outside oft the porta-potty, as well as where the bench was Quote from Callahan Lawn Service for cutting most oft the town ownedresponsible areas. This will leave town employee Chris Ritch free to do other duties. This would be a yearly contract. President Willis motioned to accept Callahan' sj proposal for grass cutting for 2019. Motion Getting quote for Comegys Lane stormwater management pond Basketball court is in need of resurfacing as the entrance, that needs to be filled. seconded by Commissioner Schuster. Vote: 3-aye, 0-nay PLANNING - Philip Snyder Sub-committee to be established to work on master trail. There are already 5 trails that come thru Queenstown. Peter Johnston has already come up with some planning tools for the committee. 3 NEW BUSINESS- - Commissioner Hardee stated he is moving along with the concert series for the park in. June, July and August. This would be a great event for families to come and enjoy ai night out, bring their own chairs and blankets, and let the kids play while they listen to music and visit with neighbors. Looking at thel hours of5-8 p.m. Possibly use stage from the Lions Club for the musicians. Need to get with R & D Electric about running electric. Also need to get an events rider added to our insurance coverage. ATTORNEY UPDATES - Lyndsey Ryan No updates PUBLIC COMMENT- Paul Cain - Steamboat Ave- Asked where things stood with Henderson property. Motorcycles are: not tagged. Advised town is continuing to work on enforcement oft that property and waiting on another court date.
