13 Work Session Meeting Minutes May 20, 2021 City Council Chambers, City Building, 16 West Scribner Avenue, DuBois, Pennsylvania on Thursday, May: 20, 2021 @4P p.m.; Council convened ati their regular Work Session with Mayor Walshi int the Chair. Other Council Members present were: Jim Aughenbaugh, Diane Bernardo, Shane Dietz, and Shannon Gabriel. Also present were: City Manager, John "Herm" Suplizio; City Engineer/Public Work Director, Chris Nasuti; Redevelopment Authority Director/Assistant Public Works Superintendent, Joe Mitchell; Code Enforcement/Zonings Officer, Zac Lawhead; Public Works Superintendent, Scott Farrell; IT Director,. Absent: City Controller, David Volpe AF Public Hearing concerning the Comcast Contract was held prior to ther meetingat330 p.m. Approval of Minutes Review for Monday Approval of Registry of Invoices Review for Monday Becky McTavish- DuBois Public Library Thanked Council fort their support oft the library; this is her 12th year as Director. Shet told Council that duet to COVID the library was shut downi for three months in: 2020; but they are currently upa andi running. She announced that the summer reading program will be beginning on. June 7th. Shel has several requests: Summer Reading In case ofi inclement weather, request use of two to three parking Ther motion was made by Bernardo and seconded by Gabriel that Council approve the request for use oft twot to three parking spaces for two hours for the Summer Reading program. The detour around construction on Maple Avenue, has traffic taking Chestnut Avenue; people are really flyingt through there. City Manager Suplizio stated that we are trying for more police presencei inthat area. Engineer Nasuti stated that the detour would be changing to gth Street on Friday. Shannon Gabriel, Councilwoman Edward L. Walsh, Mayor Encouraged everyone to attend the Challenger League games at Heindl Field. Great weeki int the City of DuBois; al little rain would have been nice so people could see how fast our fields drain, but prefect weather. Hats off to Suplizio, Mitchell, Nasuti and Tokarcik; they put on a greate event. Unfortunately, Mr. Sim'sisr retiring but his assistanti is taking over; hopefullyi it willl be held here forr many many more years.
