The permanent elimination oft the Deputy Police Chiefjob classification is part of the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget adopted on June 25, 2024, and Police Department  On June 25, 2024, the Corcoran City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget, and the Salary and Benefits Resolution No. 4038 that addressed an unanticipated revenue shortfall from FY2023-24, as well as projected revenue declinet through FY2024-251 that further delays the City's economic recovery. This adopted budget implements a Police Department reorganization that reduces the workforce of upper management positions within the department and discontinues the use ofthe two Deputy Police Chiefpositions, and directs limited resources to address critical public safety needs fund additional police officer positions. The last step in this process is for the City Council to adopt a resolution to complete the process of permanently eliminating the job  classification of] Deputy Police Chief from use in city employment. JOB CLASSIFICAITON OF DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF FOR CITY EMPLOYMENT PURPOSES WHEREAS, the City ofCorcoran Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget adopted on June 24, 2024, addresses an unanticipated revenue shortfall from FY 2023-24, as well as projected revenue decline through FY 2024-25 that further delays the City's economic recovery; and WHEREAS, the City's adopted FY 2024-25 Budget prioritizes limited resources to address the most critical operational and service needs for public safety and prioritized need for  additional police officer positions; and  WHEREAS, as part oft the FY 2024-25 Budget adoption the Corcoran Police Department has undergone a reorganization that reduces the workforce ofupper management positions within the department and discontinues the use of the two Deputy Police Chief positions and  associated job classification; and  WHEREAS, the City ofCorcoran Salary Resolution No. 4038 adopted on. June 24, 2024, establishes the salary and benefits for all City. job classifications, and eliminates the Deputy  Police Chief! position from the City's defined salary and benefits; and  WHEREAS, the City is authorized under Section 403 oft the City's Personnel manual to make ai reduction in the workforce due to lack of work or funds, and more specifically due to a material change in duties or organization, interest of economy, reduction ofs staff, or other good  cause.  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of Corcoran hereby permanently eliminates the job description of Deputy Police Chief from further use in City  employment of personnel.
