City of Chelsea May 7,2024 Pre-Council Minutes Members oft the Chelsea City Council met in a regularly scheduled pre-council meeting on May 7,2024, at 5:00 P.M. with Mayor Tony Picklesimer calling the meeting to order. The meeting was held in the Conference Room and open to the public. The following elected officials were found to be present: Mayor Tony Picklesimer Councilmember Cody Sumners Councilmember Scott Weygand Councilmember Chris Grace Councilmember Arthur Fisher, Jr. Councilmember Casey Morris Others present: Assistant City Clerk, Kayce Watkins, CFO Wayne Barber and City Attorney, Mark Parks & Recreation Director, Bart Pettus, gave the council an update on his equipment and possiblel budget requests. Hwy 47 fields need to be updated and some of the 3-D targets at the Archery Park need replacement. The floor machine at the Community Center will likely need servicingreplacement. Additional tables and chairs and additional exercise equipment are also on the wish list. The need for additional employees was also mentioned to assist with the sports programs. Next, the additional parking project at Hwy 11 athletic complex was discussed. The need for a connection between the proposed lot and the existing one was debated along with possibly striping the dumpster pad to be used as additional parking as well. Next, it was announced the city was accepted into the Innovate Alabama Grant Program and the Mayor will be reaching out to ai representative to schedule aj presentation to elaborate more on1 the program's particulars. The Liberty Bridge project was not successful in the 1st round of the Rebuild Alabama Grant Projects; however, there: is another round coming up in. June and we' 're hopeful for al better outcome at that time. CFO Wayne Barber addressed the mayor and council to update them on the new auditing firm was beginning their work on thel FY23 audit and he will be formulating policies as moving forward (i.e., blanket PO policy on the agenda tonight). He also let them know we've enabled the online banking and electronic statement features which will be more efficient and timelier moving forward.
