MAY 13, 2024 The Wheeler County Commissioners court met in Regular session on the above date at 9:00 AM to consider the below agenda items. Members present were: Judge McDowell, Commissioners Jackie Don May Jr, Phillip Gaines, David Simpson and John Walker, Commissioners precincts 1,2,3 and 4 respectively. Court was called to Order by Judge McDowell and then Commissioner Walker offered the opening prayer. PUBLIC COMMENTS None APPROVAL OF MINUTES APPROVAL OF FEE REPORTS Jackie Don May Jr made a motion which was seconded by John Walker to approve the minutes from the April 2024 David Simpson made a motion which was seconded by John Walker to approve the monthly fee collection reports for JP. #1, JP #2, County Clerk, District Clerk and Tax Collector and the County Treasurers reports for February 2024 and March 2024 and the County Treasurers Claim Report covering the period of April 23, 2024 through May 9, 2024 Jackie Don May Jr made a motion which was seconded by Phillip Gaines to approve the listing of compensatory time Phillip Gaines made a motion which was weocnded by David Simpson so approve the below listed Budget Amendments: meetings as written. Motion SO-TYLER KINCAID HIRED AS FULL TIME SARGENT, Effective May 13, 2024-$23.89 hourly-SB 22 Funds to be used At the request of Sheriff Carter, Phillip Gaines made a motion which was seconded by Jackie Don May Jr to hire Tyler Kincaid as a full time employee, Sargent status and non-exempt, effective May 13, 2024 with an hourly pay SO-RESOLUTION IN APPROVAL FOR ALLOWANCE OF K9 CHIP TO LIVE WITH HANDLER LEVI HAVENS WHEN EMPLOYMENT IS TERMINATED After discussion, Phillip Gaines made a motion which was seconded by David Simpson to allow K9 Chip to leave with handler Levi Havens when his employment is terminated with Wheeler County. After discussion, David Simpson made a motion which was seconded by Phillip Gaines to approve an incentive to each employee who participates in the program a one day off with pay.
