Samuel Rajaratnam, Pastor of Good Shepherd UMC, Indian Church RVA On motion of Mr. Schmitt, seconded by Mr. Rogish, the Board approved the minutes of the Yes: Nelson, Schmitt, Cooper, Whitehead, Rogish No: None MANAGER'S COMMENTS Mr. Vithoulkas recognized Monica Smith-Callahan, Deputy County Manager for Community Affairs, who has been selected for the Mashaw Outstanding Assistant Award which recognizes a deputy or assistant administrative or deputy or assistant manager who has demonstrated outstanding performance, particularly with a special project or during a period of unique conditions and circumstances. The award will be presented in Virginia Beach on Thursday, June 6 at 8:30 a.m. The Manager noted several staff members will be traveling to join her where she will be recognized for this achievement. The Manager noted he hates surprises as much as she does, but wanted the Board to know how meaningful this award was and to show how much Ms. Callahan does for the County and how much she means to the Board and to him. Ms. Callahan stated she is humbled and honored for the recognition. She stated she is a public servant and loves work and loves serving the people Mr. Vithoulkas recognized Rabbi Yossel Kranz to celebrate our diverse community of Jewish Americans who contribute to the vibrance of the County by investing resources, ideas, and ingenuity into the day-to-day operations and community development that are vital to how we deliver services at all levels. Specifically in May, we take time to appreciate the contributions from our Jewish community. We invite everyone to visit Henrico County Public Library and Henrico County Recreation & Parks locations in person and online as well as the County's multicultural community engagement website for cultural and Rabbi Kranz reflected on the public service and the contributions of the Jewish community throughout society and noted this month is the time to reflect on the triumphs and trials faced by Jewish Americans. He stated Henrico continues to pride itself on being a community that values diversity and inclusion, and he is proud to say that he has been a Henrico resident for more than 33 years and hopes we can continue to strengthen our bonds as a community to ensure that Jewish communities throughout Virginia feel safe, Mr. Vithoulkas recognized Kay. Alferio, President of the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, who was joined by Kiersten Ware, Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services; Debbie Preston, awards committee chair for the Commonwealth Council on Aging; and Charlotte Arbogast and Betsy Civilette from the He explained the Cultural Arts Center program, "Opening Minds through Art," was awarded the first-place 2024 Best Practices Award by the Commonwealth Council on Aging. "Opening Minds through Art" is designed to support individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other neurocognitive disorders.
