There have been many changes ati the Police Department but the one constant has been the leadership ofi the Acting Chief Jerry Thornhill. With continual law enforcement work since 1998 Thornhill has over 25 years of experience as a police officer at various levels. Thornhill has worked with the current staff and His connections tot the Blanco County Sherif's Department and the State trooper has allowed us to have a police presence on Hwy 281 even as we lost some officers due to other opportunities. Jerry has worked steadfast to make his community a safer one and has worked in this community for almost 14 years. My recommendation for Thornhill to be promoted to Chiefi fis not because it's "due" but because Ib believe he is the best officer for the job. His commitment to the organization and this community is undeniable. He is known throughout the county and isa' "team player" which is why we have the cooperation from other law enforcement agencies Former Chief Rubin was hired at $88,000 in 2020 and was making $105,000 when he retired.
