AUDIENCE BUSINESS Jaime La Crosse, 200 Rose St., appeared and read al letter in support of Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Town Marshal position, and it contained 106 signatures of support. Gary Wilkins, 505 2nd St., appeared and thanked the Board of Selectmen for their time and efforts and expressed support of Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Town Marshal position. Jake Cooper, 1208 Griffith St., appeared and read a letter in support of Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Town Marshal position. Page I 6-11-24 Steve Potts, 247 Clear Creek Dr., expressed support for Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Town Marshal position. He was concerned with the amount oft time the Board is taking to fill the position and requested Gaskins be able to hire an officer to work under him, so he is not the only Katy Averett appeared and spoke of support for Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Town Deborah Butler, 1760 Skyline Dr., expressed support for Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Diane Anderson, 401 4thSt., asked the Board why it is looking outside of Town to fill the position? Police Judge Kelsey stated she will explain later in the meeting. Lexi Berger, 708 7th St., expressed support for Acting Marshal Gaskins receiving the Town Police Judge Kelsey explained to the audience that the Board felt like it needed to see what type ofcandidates were out there for the Town Marshal position, so it hired KRW Associates, which isac consulting firm that specializes in hiring law enforcement for municipalities. She stated that this does not have anything to do with lack oftrust for Gaskins but wants to make sure the correct choice is made for the position. An ordinance is being created to change the title oft the position from Town Marshal to Police Chief, which they feel will bring in more candidates. The process is taking longer because the first round of advertising had only two applications submitted, so they decided to extend the hiring period. Police Judge Kelsey explained this was also done for the Town Administrator position. The advertisement was published again two officer serving Georgetown. Marshal position. Town Marshal position. Highlights from the report included the completed work was within budget, trees will be planted next week, finishing touches will be completed by July 4, 2024, and the parking lot will be done completed after the 4th ofJuly holiday. Ordinance #7 (Series 2024) First Reading AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION: 2.24.010 OF THE GEORGETOWN MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING LAW ENFORCEMENT The ordinance changes the Town Marshal position to be named Police Chief. Selectman Goscinski made a motion to approve Ordinance #7 (Series 2024) on first reading, second by Selectman Connell and the motion passed with unanimous vote. Two bids were submitted for stationary license plate readers, one from Flock Safety, and the other from Motorola Solutions. Bids were also requested from Rekor and Rhombus, but they Itv was mentioned that Flock Safety shares the information from the readers with multiple counties. Acting Marshal Gaskins stated there is a common policy for the readers and it will be Mr. Keuroglian stated that there is an annual lease for the readers that is subject to change. Selectman Smith made a motion to approve the quote from Flock Safety for two stationary license plate readers based on a contract from the Town Administrator, second by Police License Plat Reader - Two stationary readers didn'tsubmit a quote for the license plat readers. modified for Georgetown. Police Report- Acting Marshal Gaskins The report was ini the Board packets and Acting Marshal Gaskins highlighted from the report that the town. has increased visitors with summer starting. Hel has been patrolling more at night with the recent thefts in town. He is continually working on the two investigations, one is for the theft oft the razors and motorcycles, and the other is theft of packages from at least one residence. Gaskins mentioned that Kim Hill now has access to the Open Fox software program and is in the process of being designated as the CCIC Coordinator for the Georgetown Police Dept., which allows them to be independent oft the sheriff's office. She will be in training for NCIC/CCIC. The Board decided to create an Administrative Policy Review Committee.
