Nixon,  Et 1906  Nixon City Council Minutes for 6.13.2022 Regular Meeting  The Nixon City Council met in Regular Session on the 13th day of June, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Members present were: Mayor Dorothy Riojas, Rene Amaya, Ellie Dominguez, Justin La Fleur, and Maggie Gaytan came in at 4:35 p.m. Absent was MaryAnn Fatheree. Also present were Harold Rice, Tanya Torres, Eddie Escobar, Mark Mendez, Jeremy Bustos, Chief Mike Cantu, Judge Darryl Becker, Donald Hoffman, Adolph Trigo, Bud Box, Patsy Scherer, Verne Colwell, Johnny Hewell, and Clayton Kelley. Quorum was declared present and the meeting was called to order by Madame Mayor Dorothy Riojas at Prayer was given by Rene Amaya. And the pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America and the Citizens to be heard: Patsy Scherer spoke regarding a violation that given to the resident at 311 E. 3rd Ave. Motion was made by Rene Amaya and seconded by. Motion carried 4-0 Motion was made by Maggie Gaytan and seconded by Ellie Dominguez to give the Nixon Development and Beautification Committee approval for a flag program for the City of Nixon. Motion carried 4-0 Motion was made by Ellie Dominguez to nominate Maggie Gaytan as Mayor Pro-Tem. Alderman Gaytan graciously declined. Rene Amaya nominated Justin La Fleur as Mayor Pro-Tem and was seconded by Motion was made by Justin La Fleur and seconded by Ellie Dominguez to change the Council Meeting No Action was taken on necessary 2021-2022 budget amendments pursuant to items listed on the Police Chief Miguel Cantu gave his monthly report. He also informed council that he and another officer had gone to Uvalde to help with security during the aftermath of the mass shooting that had occurred at  Maggie Gaytan. Motion carried 3-1.
