Call Meeting to Order: Mayor. Jeff Blackstone called the meeting to order at 6:01 PM. Mary McDonald announced: roll call and that a quorum was, present. 2. Roll Call and Announce if quorum is present: 3. Opening remarks: 4. Consider and Act upon approving items 54 &6. Carrie Ousley made a motion to approve the financials, for April 2024 and the meeting minutes for the April 8, 2024 council meeting. Ollie Harmon seconds the motion. Motion carries. 5. Approving City financials for April 2024. 6. Approving meeting minutes for the April 8, 2024 Council Meeting. 7. Discuss, Consider and Act upon accepting one of three bids for tree work on Pleasant Ridge Rd, Mr. Blackstone presented the bids from the 3 companies. He stated. Merritt Tree service who did the work last year placed a bidj for $27,150.00. Sharp' 's services placed a bid ofs12, 500.00 and that RJtree service placed their bid at an daily rate of81,800.00 a day for eight hours work per day. Mr. Blackstone stated that Sharp stated it would take up to two weeks and based on his number of days RJtree service would range about $18,000.00. Mrs. Ousley asked about insurance for two oft the companies and Mr. Blackstone stated that they have insurance but theyj just did not submit them with the bids and that whoever they choose will have to, provide a copy of the insurance prior to executing the contract. Mr. Blackstone stated that at a rate of$12,500.00for two weeks ofwork is good and they could! possibly be leftover money that could be spent to extend the work and finish other roads that need tree work done. Carrie Ousley made a motion to approve Sharp Services to do the tree work contingent upon getting a liability certificate. Ollie Harmon Stevenson Rd & Coffee Landing Rd. seconds the motion. Motion carries. 8. Discuss, Consider and Act upon accepting bid from Central Point for sell of police vehicles. Mr. Blackstone stated that they wouldi remove the equipment that has to be removed and make minor repairs to the vehicles. He: stated. that they intend on keeping the radios and usej for the fire department. He stated that once done they would be auctioned off to other departments and they gentleman stated that once done the vehicles could bring in between $7,000.00. and $8,000.00. Mr. Blackstone stated they are willing to trade the work which is about $8,000.00 for the dodge charger that has the motor that is about to Ollie Harmon made a motion to accept the bidfrom Central Point for the sell ofpolice vehicles. Carrie go out. Ousley seconds the motion. Motion carries. 9. EDC Report: Vickie Castleberry gave the EDC report and she reported that their meeting was short and not a lot was discussed. She stated that they did approve the newest member, Walt Kern to the board. She stated that they tabled the welcome sign due to the size of the sign and the. sign that was already in that place. She stated that they had heard from the attorney on who will be advising us on the process for the gified property. Mr. Blackstone stated that he had: spoken with the attorney and got the information that the city needs toj provide her to move forward. 10. Fire Department Report: Walt Kern gave the fire report, he reported that the department had a total of 30 calls for service for the month of April. He stated they had their fishing tournament last weekend and it was the biggest one they' 've had with 40 boats which would be 80 people. 11.1 Municipal Court Report: Mary McDonald, gave the court report, reporting that ai total ofs $11,529.73 was collected. and the month of April, $3,250.16 would be remitted to the state and $1,890.84 would, go to the general fund. 12. Open Forum: Open Forum is limited to items currently on the agenda. Speakers must sign in 5 minutes before the beginning ofthe meeting. Speakers will be given 3 minutes to speak. Any person that is unable to attend and wishes to submit questions to the council can e-mail the Irfan Eshan spoke during open) forum. Mr. Eshan stated that he only wanted to. speak on the gifted property and receive an update on the progress and that Mr. Blackstone already answered. his questions to the City Secretary at cinsecretary@cipyo/cofleeclny.com questions during the EDC report. 13.
