JUNE 13, 2024  The Newcastle City Council met in regular session at the Newcastle City Hall, 608 Broadway Ave, Newcastle, Texas at 6:00  pm on Monday June 13th, 2024, with the following members present:  MEMBERS:  New Mayor: Josh Bennett (absent) Council Member: Sarah Riley  Dickey Baynes Jeff Altebaumer Chad Owen Dustin Hobbs Alice Winder Julia Keith  City Secretary: Secretary Asst./Clerk:  OPENING PRAYER: Dickey Baynes called on Dusty Hobbs to open the meeting with prayer at  6:03pm. VISITOR: NONE  PUBLIC FORUM: NONE  APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR MAY2024- All city council approved of minutes. Chad APPROVALOF THE MAY 2024 FINANICIALS - Financials were approved. Motion was DISCUSSION ON POSSIBLLY GETTING THE LAKES SURVEYED- We need to call Jay Lawson the surveyor & Dusty Hobbs is supposed to contact the 3 property owners to ask them ifthey might have a survey. Sarah Riley made a motion and Chad Owen second it. Approved 5-0 DISCUSSION ON GETTINGTHE PARK RESTROOMS UP & RUNNING DURINGTHE DAY- Need to ask the mayor to see ifhe can have the park committee present at the next city council meeting SO we can let them know and get their feedback on what we are trying to do. Tabled-  Owen made ai motion and Jeff Altebaumer second it. Approved 5-0 made by Sarah Riley and Dickie Baynes second it. Approved 5-0  Approved 5-0  DISCUSSION ON THE INCREASE THAT WASTE CONNECTIONS HAS DELIVERED- Charles Rodger was present and explained the 3.31% increase. And also explained the reason behind needing to change the residential pick up schedule. It will be moving from Thursdays to Tuesday. On July the 4th they will be tagging all polycarts as a reminder that the pick up date will be changing to    Tuesdays. Approved 5-0  DISCUSSION ON BENEFITS FOR THE EMPLOYEES: The quote was handed out. We need to make a decision after looking at the numbers while doing budget to see ifit's something that could be DISCUSSION ON HAVING THE SAME CPA CONTINUE WITH YEAR 2022,2023 &2024- For audit purposes. It was voted to go ahead and let her continue. Dickey Baynes made ai motion and Sarah DISCUSSION ONA CALLABOUT A DOLLAR STORE- Not for sure what happened or ifthe DISCUSSION ON ROLL-OFFS- While Charles was here, he gave us pricing and different options we have for the roll offs we' re wanting to get ini the back. We will continue to look at all options. DISCUSSION ONTAXATION SEMINAR- Several city council members are interested in attending  considered. Chad Owen made ai motion and Dusty Hobbs second it. Approved 5-0  Riley second it. Approved 5-0  mayor called the individual back. The mayor was not at the meeting.  Approved 5-0  the seminar on July 19th. Approved 5-0  EXECUTIVE SESSION: Executive Session as Authorized by' Texas Governmental Code Section  551.074  MAYOR'S UPDATE-  ADJORNMENT: 7:37pm.
