U PROCLAMATION LIFE SAVING AWARD WHEREAS, on May 09, 2024, al La Grange Police Officer experienced an unintentional discharge of his weapon, severely injuring him in the leg; and WHEREAS, La Grange Police Officer Mitchell Maxwell was the first of two people to respond quickly and through his recent tourniquet training, placed at tourniquet on the leg of the injured Police Officer to stop the bleeding from the injury; and WHEREAS, it was later determined that not for Officer Maxwell's lifesaving act in which quick thinking, fast action and heroism were demonstrated, a life was saved and an employee is home with his family; and WHEREAS, Officer Maxwell's actions are indicative of his character and work ethic as Police Officer of the La Grange Police Department; and WHEREAS, the La Grange City Council wish to extend our sincere appreciation nto Officer Maxwell for his lifesaving act. SUMMARY: Replace Yield signs with Stop Signs PRIOR ACTION/INPUT (Council, Boards, Committees) None RECOMMENDATION: As ChiefofPolice, Ir recommend that the yield signs at the intersections of East Fannin Street and North Jackson Street, East Fannin Street and North Franklin Street, and West Colorado Street and North River Street be replaced with stop signs. This change is necessary due to the increased traffic at these intersections. Fannin Street is becoming ai through street when Horton Street backs up in the mornings. Additionally, since Bluebonnet Trails Community Services moved their offices to Travis Street, traffic has increased on West Colorado and North River Streets. The committee last allocated $1,262 in March 2024 for website development and advertising and Colorado Valley Quilt Guild - 27th Annual Best Little Quilt Show in TX Funds are requested to advertise the annual quilt show. The quilt show will be held February 21-22, 2025. The committee allocated $4,000 for marketing purposes in 2023 and 2022. Funds are requested for historic preservation of the N.W. Faison House. Funds will be used towards immediate repairs to the foundation. The committee last allocated $1,550 in March 2024 for advertising and $4,170 in March 2023 for $2,000 in June 2023 for advertising. 2 $4,000 3 $10,000 Faison Preservation Society, Inc. advertising and docents. La Grange Roadrunners 4 $1,200 Funds are requested to promote/adveruse multiple upcoming dance events in 2024/2025.
