Discussion oft the Comprehensive Plan 4. Public Comment 5. Adjourn Town of Onancock Planning Commission Meeting Tuesday June 18, 2019 5:30P.M. Call to Order and Roll Call: Chairman. Judith Grier called the meeting to order at 5:28 P.M. Commission members Bill Bagwell, Robert Bloxom, Ridgway Dunton, Larry Frey, Judith Grier and Matt Spuck were present. Commission member Scott Schreiber was absent. A quorum was established. Town Manager William Kerbin and Deputy Clerk Mariellen Mearsheimer were present. Onancock residents Jim McGowan and. John Boddie were also in attendance. Chairman Grier asked for a motion to approve the May 21, 2019 minutes. Commission member Larry Frey made a motion to approve the minutes. Commission member Robert Bloxom. seconded the motion. The motion was approved by unanimous voice vote. Minutes: Items of Business: Chairman Grier asked for feedback from members oft the planning commission who attended the Main Street Initiative strategy session on. June 03, 2019. Commission member Bob Bloxom stated the meeting was extremely informative with lots of energy int the room and most ofi it dovetailed with comments heard in the Planning Commission and the Town Council meetings. Commission member Matt Spuck agreed and stated he was glad the group got their 5013c status, sO they can move ahead with fund raising. Chairman Grier shared an email from Karen Rush-Monroe thanking Mrs. Grier for her contributions and participation at the strategy session and stating the group plans tot focus on the following priorities; tiet the Onancock Main Street Initiative plans to the Town's Comprehensive Plan, a marketing plan for the Town, information, signage, kiosks and Town WiFi. Chairman Grier also handed out the Mayi issue of Shoreline, the Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore (CBES) newsietter, whichi focused on resiliency and comprehensive land use, stating it could be used as a resource. Commission member Bagwell stated that note everyone in Northampton County agreed with their position. Mr. Bagwell also stated that one oft the objectives oft the Main Street Group was developing the economy. Chairman Grier Chairman Grier distributed an outline she created to help the group get started. She also stated the Comprehensive Plani the commission members have been working with isa a draft dated April 20, 2009 and has never been approved by the Town. The last comprehensive plan adopted by the Town was Jim McGowen stated he needed to change the draft Comprehensive Plan from a PDF document to an editable Word document and asked if anyone could do that. Commission members Robert Bloxom, Matt Spuck and Town resident. John Boddie all said they could help. Mr. McGowen stated he would like to get the plan in an editable format and write up a draft and give it to the Commission members for review. He also stated hel had a graduate research assistant from Old Dominion University, Lenzie G. Ward, stated the newsletter wasa a resource. February 08, 1999 and last amended in 2008. helping with the maps. 1 Public Comment: None Adjourn: Chairman Grier asked for a motion to adjourn.
