Maycross  Opportunity inevery direction  MINUTES  WAYCROSS CITY COMMISSION MEETING TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 2024-5:00 PM WAYCROSS CITY COMMISSION CHAMBERS  CALLTOORDER:  The Waycross City Commission Meeting was called to order on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm by Mayor James. The meeting was held in the Commission Chambers of City Hall. Present were Commissioners Diane Hopkins, Mayor Pro Temp, Alvin Nelson and Sheinita Bennett.  A. Invocation:  Mayor Michael-Angelo James  Invocation was led by Mayor James B. Pledge of Allegiance . City Clerk to Read Section 2-66 (a)- - Decorum. Read by Marquis Nixon, Assistant City Clerk D. Request Motion to Approve Agenda  There was a motion made by Commissioner Hopkins, seconded by Mayor Pro Temp, Alvin  Nelson. All voted ini favor and the motion passed.  II. PUBLIC REMARKS ON OFFICIAL. ACTIONS  III. EXECUTIVE DUTIES: A. Set Public Hearings  Attorney Rick Currie, notified the Commission oft the need to set Public Hearings for the purpose of considering an amendment to the zoning ordinance for 615 Morton Avenue and 817 %  Glenmore Avenue on Tuesday May 7th at 4:30 and 4:45.  Page 1 of4    IV. OFFICIALREPORTS: A. City Manager's Report  The City Manager spoke of an emergency to have a pump replaced at the water plant, that was struck by lightning. Thist replacement is considered an emergency: and needs a vote for purchase. There was a motion made by Mayor Pro Temp, Alvin Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Also, her met with Ga. Also, there will be a Mayors Reception held in the Chambers at City Hall on Monday April 22nd. There will be a. Job Fair at the Waycross High School on April 29th from 1-3pm. First Friday willl be May 3rd and lastly, election day is fast approaching and will  be on May 21* with early voting starting April 29th from 8am to Spm.  V. CONSIDERATION OF OFFICIAL ACTIONS:  A. A Resolution oft the City of Waycross, Georgia, To Support Modification oft the City's There was a motion to amend this resolution leaving out the word "Modification "by Mayor Pro Temp, Alvin Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Bennett. After which, Commissioner Bennett made the motion to approve, seconded by Mayor Pro Temp, Alvin Nelson. All voted in favor and the motion passed. There were no votes in 2.
