REGULAR SESSION TIFT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MONDAY,. JANUARY 9, 2023 (6:00 PM) The scheduled Regular Session oft the Tift County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Chairman Tony McBrayer on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm in Room 207 of the Charles Kent Administration Building. Members of the Commission present in addition to Chairman McBrayer were Commissioners Paul Webb, Greg Wood, Donnie Hester, Stan Stalnaker and Melissa Hughes. Commissioner Fred "Buck" Rigdon was absent. Commissioner Melissa Hughes offered an invocation and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag. PUBLIC COMMENTS Karen Thompson, Branch Manager oft the Tifton-Tift County Public Library, thanked the County fori their assistance in providing funding for air conditioning repairs. She also told about the successful winter reading program that wasj just completed. APPOINTMENTS There were none to report. REGULAR, AGENDA: 8.1 Appointment to Board of Health: County Clerk Miriam Jordan stated that there are three seats on the Board of Health that have expired - Dr. Raymond Moreno, Charlotte Bedell and Alice Archie. Dr. Moreno and Ms. Bedell are willing to serve another term; however, Ms. Archie is Chairman Tony McBrayer opened the floor for nominations. Commissioner Melissa Hughes nominated Dr. Raymond Moreno and Charlotte Bedell. There being no other names brought Commissioner Melissa Hughes made a motion to appoint Dr. Raymond Moreno and Charlotte Bedell to the Board of Health for another term. Motion carried 6-0 with the Chairman voting. 8.2 Letter of Support to Senator Carden Summers for Opposing Any Increases in the Maximum Allowable Weight of Trucks on our Roads: County Manager. Jim Carter: stated that the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks (CABT) has asked the County to send a letter to our Senator opposing any legislation concerning the increase of allowable truck weights. Chairman Tony McBrayer said he would also like to send this letter to our State Representatives. Commissioner Melissa Hughes made a motion to send the letters ofs support to the County'sState! Senator and to the State Representatives. Motion: seconded by Commissioner Paul Webb. Motion carried 6-Owithi the Chairman voting. Jordan: stated that since the new logo/seal has been adopted it is now time to redesign the County's website. Revise has offered tor redesign the site fori free; however, they have offered some additional services that the site currently doesn't have. The cost to add those is $5,744. Mrs.. Jordan stated that staff willl be working with Revize on these additional services to see how to reduce costs. This will be funded by General Fund. Commissioner Greg Wood made a motion to approve the Agreement understanding that staff will be negotiating on the costs. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Melissa Hughes. COMMISSIONER'S COMMENTS: Commissioner Melissa Hughes announced that the MLK Breakfast willl be held on. January 16, 2023. She has tickets if anyone is interested in attending.
