REGULAR SESSION TIFT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MONDAY,JANUARY 8, 2024 (6:00 PM) The scheduled Regular Session of the Tift County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Chairman Tony McBrayer on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 6:00 pm in Room 207 of the Charles Kent Administration Building. Members oft the Commission present in addition to Chairman McBrayer were Commissioners Greg Wood, Donnie Hester, Fred "Buck" Rigdon, Stan Stalnaker, and Melissa Hughes. Commissioner Greg Wood offered an invocation and ledi int the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Commissioner Paul Webb was absent. Flag. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were none to report. MINUTES Commissioner Donnie Hester made a motion to approve thet following minutes: (1) Work Session - December 5, 2023 and (2) Regular Session - December 11, 2023. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Greg Wood. Motion carried 6-0 with the Chairman voting. PUBLIC HEARINGS 6.1 TC-TA-23-06: Text Amendment for Private Schools (Resolution No. 2024-02) Community Development Services Director Chris Davis stated that staff has reviewed the zoning classifications that allow for a private school compared to those allowed for a public school. Public: schools are currently allowed in all zoning districts except CA (Commercial. Adult) and private schools are only allowed in GB (General Business) and' WLI (Wholesale Light Industrial). Staff has reached out to several counties and have found that public and private schools are allowed int the same zoning classifications in those counties. The Greater Tift County Planning Commission met on December 14, 2023 to consider this amendment and recommends allowing County Attorney Anthony Rowell opened the Public Hearing for comments. There being no Commissioner Greg Wood made a motion to approve Resolution No. 2024-02. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fred "Buck" Rigdon.
