Nixon, Est. 1906 Nixon City Council Minutes for 9.12.2022 Regular Meeting The Nixon City Council met in Regular Session 12th day of September 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Members present were: Mayor Dorothy Riojas, Rene Amaya, Ellie Dominguez, Maggie Gaytan and MaryAnn Fatheree, Justin La Fleur was absent. Also present were Harold Rice, Tanya Torres, Chief Mark Mendez, Jeremy Bustos, Chief Mike Cantu, Adolph Trigo, Kalie Coltrain, Andre Savoie, Natividad Ruiz, Ana Ruiz, Maria Tristan, Angel Delacruz, Emmanuel Veliz, Briana Dominguez, Pat Benavidez, Michael Martinez Quorum was declared present, and the meeting was called to order by Madame Mayor Dorothy Riojas at Prayer was given by Mary Ann Fatheree. And the pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America and Motion was made by Maggie Gaytan and seconded by Rene Amaya to approve the minutes of the September 12th, 2022 regular meeting. Fire Chief Mark Mendez gave the Fire Department report. Juanita Vigil addressed the council regarding the streetlight on South Roosevelt and 3rd Ave not working and she also spoke about her water filter being SO dirty due to our water. She also addressed the issue Yolanda Messman addressed the council regarding the condition of the roads in the City. She also addressed the water and not having signs that express that the City of Nixon is Superior water, and she Briana Dominguez addressed council regarding 603 E. 9th Street and the Lee Street Drainage Project. Natividad Ruiz gave a short presentation regarding the City of Nixon Harvest Festival. Motion was made by Rene Amaya and seconded by Maggie Gaytan to allow the street closures for the Saint Joseph Catholic Church Annual festival on October 8th, 2022. Motion carried 4-0.
