Nixon, Est. 1906 Nixon City Council Minutes for 11.7.2022 Regular Meeting The Nixon City Council met in Regular Session on the 7th day of November 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Members present were: Mayor Dorothy Riojas, Rene Amaya, Justin La Fleur, Maggie Gaytan, MaryAnn Fatheree and Ellie Dominguez came in at 5:42pm. Also present were Harold Rice, Tanya Torres, Jeremy Bustos, Chief Mike Cantu, Eddie Escobar, Beverly Houston, Natividad Ruiz, Pat Benavidez, Patsy Scherer Quorum was declared present, and the meeting was called to order by Madame Mayor Dorothy Riojas at Prayer was given by Rene Amaya. And the pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America and the Motion was made by Rene Amaya and seconded by MaryAnn Fatheree to approve the Minutes of the Motion was made by Maggie Gaytan and seconded by Rene Amaya to approve the Financial Statements Council Chambers at City Hall 3021 E. Central Ave Nixon, TX 78140. and Gladyne Finch. 5:33 p.m. State of Texas was recited. September 12th, 2022, Regular Meeting. Motion carried 4-0 and Paid bills. Motion carried 4-0 Fire Chief Mark Mendez was not present to give the Fire report. Mrs. Beverly Houston addressed the council regarding the. Juneteenth Club property on Hwy 80 South. Motion was made by. Justin Lafleur and seconded by Maggie Gaytan to approve the road closures on December 11th, 2022, from 1pm-9pm and December 12th, 2022, from 5pm-9pm for the Virgin de No action was taken on the discussion of the Water Well levels and all relative legal matters. Motion was made by Maggie Gaytan and seconded by MaryAnn Fatheree to give the City manager (Harold Rice) and the Director of Public Works (Jeremy Bustos) to investigate and address the issues and speak Motion was made by Justin Lafleur and seconded by Rene Amaya to discuss entertainment contracts for Council discussed the upcoming "Night in Ole Nixon" Christmas parade on December 10th,2022. Guadalupe Festival at Saint. Joseph Catholic Church. Motion carried 5-0 with BEFCO engineering to help in the process. Motion carried 5-0 the Cinco de Mayo event in Executive Session. Motion carried 5-0 Police Chief Miguel Cantu gave the Police report. City Manager Harold Rice gave the City Manager Report. Council came out of Regular session at 7:04pm and went into Executive session at 7:05pm. Council came out of Executive session at 7:59pm and went back into Regular session at 8:00pm Motion was made by Justin LaFleur and seconded by Maggie Gaytan to approve the use of Hotel/Motel tax funds to secure the music headliners for May 5th, 2023, and May 6th, 2023.
