ciendsy  P.O1 Box 9, Friendsville MD 21531 Ph: 301-746-8919 info@lriendsville.org www.fiendsville.org:  Mayorandlown Council Town ofFriendsville Founded1765  GAIeLC Comatyl Marylait  Ordinance No: 0-2024-01 Town of Friendsville Charter Amendment  COPY  An Ordinance whereby the annual salary for the Mayor and Council members are increased in regular sessions that commencing with the next regular term of the Mayor, immediately after the swearing in of the Mayor following the Mayoral election in2 2024, the salary of the Mayor shall receive $60.00 per meeting; and that commencing with the next regular term of the Council members, after the swearing in of the three Council members following the regular Town election for Council members in 2024, the salary of each Councilmember shall receive a salary of $30.00 per meeting and the remaining three Council members will increase after the WHEREAS, the Charter of the Town of Friendsville, Maryland at Section 2-103 (Meetings; Compensation) each Councilperson shall receive such compensation as shall be established by its Ordinance, by the Town Council. The salary for Council members shall be uniform and shall be the same for all members. The compensation specified for any Councilperson at the time he or she takes office shall remain the same during the period for which that Counciiperson was elected. Any Ordinance changing the compensation paid to any Councilperson shall be finally ordained prior to the municipal election for the member of the next succeeding council and at Section 3-104 (Compensation) The Mayor shall receive an annual compensation as set from time to time by an Ordinance adopted by the Town Council in its regular course of business; provided, however, that no change shall be made in the compensation for any Mayor during the term for which he or she was elected. The Ordinance making any change in the compensation paid to the Mayor shall be finally adopted prior to the municipal election to elect the Mayor and shall take effect only after the succeeding Mayor is elected or the sitting Mayor is re- elected. The Mayor shall have no vote with respect to any resolution before the WHEREAS, the Mayor and Town Council have not had an increase in their pay for WHEREAS the Mayor and Council deem it appropriate that their salary should be increased to be commensurate with those municipalities of size like Friendsville. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Friendsville in regular sessions that commencing with the next regular term of the Mayor, immediately after the swearing in of the Mayor following the Mayoral election in 2024, the salary of the Mayor receive $60.00 per meeting; and  regular Town election in 2025.
