Tim Brown Pledge of Allegiance Public Hearing to consider Bicentennial Celebration Events A. Mayor Dodi opened public hearing, 6:04 P.M. B. Dustin Keith, member oft the Revitalization Management Team, thanked the council for allowing public input on the bicentennial events. He discussed the facebook page that was set up for Downtown Revitalization had received over 700 likes so he will use the page to advertise all the upcoming bicentennial events. He stated that it was great to have sO many of the younger population interested and at the meeting and requested the council consider theiri interests when planning events. C. Sarah Stoots, English Teacher and Speech & Drama Director at Lebanon High School, requested the council allow Lebanon High School students to bej part oft the bicentennial events. She presented the idea oft the students creating a play based on Lebanon'shistory tol bej presented Spring 2019. Her ideas are the history department looking up research, speech and drama writing and presenting the play, and the art students having an art gallery which would be displayed at the school for the Spring drama. The Town Council approved for Ms. Stoots to go ahead with planning on the Spring Drama. D. Nancy Burkett shared her interest in helping with the music part of the bicentennial events, she suggested Folk Soul Revival as a great. Americana group. She also advised that Memorial Day Weekend would be a great time to set as an annual event or even up in. June. E. Melody Honaker advised that most oft the music groups that had been suggested didn't appeal to most oft the younger citizens but she loved the ideas ofhaving events scheduled every month. She suggested having more events to target the families with smaller kids. F. Maegan Brown presented some ideas the first one starting July 4 having a Hero float, which would be the main float oft the parade, with veterans and current Military riding on it. Also, display lots of flags at the town hall, court house and in lawns on Main Street. She suggested doing al bike parade or wagon parade for the July 4 events as a way to interest the kids. She suggested other summer events such as a paint slip-n-slide using dish soap and washable paint, foam pit using bubbles, hot air balloons and a soap box derby for kids. G. Justin Honaker, owner of Crossfit Beartown, suggested having a huge slip-n-slide event with food truck vendors and closing a part ofl Main Street down. He suggested the Avett Brothers orj just someone outstanding as an Americana group. He stated that Crossfit Beartown was having competitions at the gym so some event maybe that would support health and fitness would be great and maybe a Chili cook-off at the Lebanon Middle school showcasing maybe area talents like quilting. H. Suzanne Heller, commander of American Legion Post #208, advised that they desired to be part oft the patriotic activities and all the upcoming bicentennial events. I. Susan Breeding shared her interest ini the history of the Town ofl Lebanon, she suggested having aj photo gallery display, having middle school students do research papers on maybe their great grandfathers or veterans, placing plaques in front oft the historic Timmy Brown suggested that it was great tol have events for everyone to enjoy but also, this should be a time to give back to our community by raising money for charities or foster care. He suggested to maybe display "keep my community clean" signs tol help with litter issues and citizens giving back by making sure their area was trash free. David Leonard commented on the interest showed in the meeting by the younger generation. He suggested that J.1 K. Musick would be a great person ofinterest for the buildings and fishing tournament on Cedar Creek for kids. J. K. fishing tournament at Big Cedar Creek. L. Kelly Gilmer suggested having some event to tie into the Lebanon High School homecoming and having Christmas Home Tours. M. Mayor Dodi closed public hearing, 7:12P.M. N. Recess: 7:13 P.M. M. Resume: 7:23P.M. V. Discuss Awning being replaced at Community Rooms Mr. Mitchell presented the quote from. Jerry's signs fori replacing the awnings at the community The council approved for Mr. Mitchell to replace the awnings at the quoted price. Mayor Dodi rooms for the amount of $525 each. requested the awnings be replaced at the Town Hall. VI. Discuss Steele Cookin Contract Upon motion made by Mr. Fields, seconded by Mr. Kegley, the Town Council unanimously voted to approve the contract for Steel Cookin in the amount of $800. The vote was as follows: Mr. Kegley, Aye; Ms.. Jackson, Aye; Mr. Fields, Aye; Mr. Gilmer, Aye; Mr. Ferguson, Aye; Ms. Stanley,Aye. VII. Discuss Court House Railing Mayor Dodi presented the quote from Steffey Construction to replace the railing at the court Upon motion made by Mr. Ferguson, seconded by Ms. Stanley, the Town Council unanimously voted to approve for Steffey Construction to replace the railing at the court house for $12,500. The vote was as follows: Mr. Kegley, Aye; Ms. Jackson, Aye; Mr. Fields, Aye; Mr. Gilmer, house with a stronger railing at aj price of $12,500. Aye; Mr. Ferguson, Aye; Ms. Stanley, Aye. VIII. Mr. Mitchell updated the council that the Food' Truck Event location has been changed from the Elliott House to the Old Mill Park due to lack ofcommunication. IX. Upon motion made by Mr. Fields, seconded by Mr. Kegley, the Town Council unanimously voted to advertise for an Accounting Assistant position tol be ran in the Lebanon News for two weeks with the closing day for applications to be. August 10. The vote was as follows: Mr. Kegley, Aye; Ms. Jackson, Aye; Mr. Fields, Aye; Mr. Gilmer, Aye; Mr. Ferguson, Aye; Ms. Upon motion made by Ms. Jackson, seconded by Mr. Ferguson, the Town Council unanimously voted to adopt the deposit and fee schedule for the Town ofLebanon Ballfield. Heather Powers-Update Bicentennial Events Ms. Powers discussed getting the Folk Soul Revival in a contract for. July 4, 2019 would be Upon motion made by Ms. Stanley, seconded Mr. Ferguson, the Town Council unanimously voted to approve for Ms. Powers to get a contract with Folk Soul Revival for.
