Hansen reported that the winners of the Christmas Home Lighting Contest were G. R. Dunigan, 1st place and D. Roberts, The Mayor reported talking to Hugh Freeland concerning annexing more property. Mr. Freeland said it couldn't be done because of Beaumont Buffer Zone extending into property. Mayor Hall called town officials election to be held on April 3, 1971. Filing dead line to be March 1, 1971 at 7:00 P.M. Absentee voting to begin Mayor read letter from G.S.U. concerning collecting of delinquent bills. No action was taken. Mayor Hall announced that Mr. Jeton would be election Judge and Mrs. Silverberg be absentee Judge for the town election. That we give permission to Jefferson County Mosquito Control to fly over town while spraying. Cammack, Davis. Mayor turned meeting over to Mr. Mc Nicholas He suggested that the town employ an engineer to study the sewer problem. There would be no charge from this engineer until a loan or a grant has been made. The lawyer suggested that the town ask different engineering firms to come out and talk to the Council. Each firm to make his proposal at different meetings. That mayor contact engineering firms to meet with Council to discuss a sewage system in town. That town include Volunteer Fire Depar tment's Treasurer reported that we have $8,584.48 in Savings and Loans, $823.06 in Village State Bank Checking Account, and $13.26 in Petty Cash. Co. representatives Joe Mc Clelland and Vic Faver presented formal petition requesting an 8.5% increase in rates. They also requested That we approve the 8.5% rate increase and also the penalty clause presented by G.S.U. Co. approval of penalty clause. representatives. Visitors were excused. La Rousse suggested that the Town erect a flag pole and ask the Boy Scouts to raise flag on holidays, etc. Mayor would look into possibility of getting a pole. Cole discussed vandalism of a house in River Oaks and bicycles being stolen.
