They responded to 208 calls. The district incorporates 32 square miles. Volunteers include three certified medical personnel. Anew trucki is on Ruth Boles, a Jefferson County Sheriff Department employee speaking as a private citizen, stated that Bevil Oaks is no longer a "sleepy" community. Crime has risen. She Jane Hebert states that Citizens on Patrol is still active. More street lights are needed. George Bryant stated that he has noticed Marshal Crader stopping speeders. The City has power to enforce guidelines of Ordinance 192, such as cleaning up property and billing responsible party. This process to bill, etc. will take up to 90 days. No guarantee that city will recoup money, short of a lien on property. All Council present clearly understands the City's obligation, and that Marshal Crader has authority to enforce Ordinance # 192. Building & Grounds - Mayor Ford reported on installation of new outside light at storage Roads & Drainage Councilman Moseley stated that Drainage District is doing a good Community Development - Councilman Grimes stated that 13350 Alaskan Dr. was nominated for Yard of the Month. He asked for additional nominations. Texas Round- up met on the 19th March. 5K walk still scheduled for 28 April. There will be a Health Fair, Food, and Band in the Park. Dedication of playground equipment donated by the Bevil Oaks Community Group will also be held. Councilman Grimes asked more Education: Mr. Bledsoe, BISD Citizen's Advisory Committee member reported there are positive moves by BISD. Verbal promise that Bevil Oaks students will attend Westbrook. For the first time in 40 years, Bevil Oaks may have a say in the Schools they will attend. Mayor Ford stated that this area is growing with 15,000 new. jobs in the Grants: DRS 06 0005 update: Councilman Grimes will make a presentation on 29 March 2007 to the Grant review committee. He will be joined by Mayor Ford, David Waxman and a representative from BOMUD. Citizen's Comments: Ruth Boles with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department provided information on Community issues. In recent weeks a rash of residential burglaries has hit the City. One home was hit three times this week, taking guns and tools. She asked everyone be aware of their surroundings and report anything suspicious to the Marshal, orland the Jefferson County Sherif's Department. She is working closely with the Marshal. She would like to see Citizens on Patrol (COP) reactivated. Marshal Crader feels we should not see this as a critical issue, but one to be aware of. Mayor Ford is checking John Hignett stated. he would consider the reactivating COP. He is giving some thought to the idea. Mayor Ford will work with COP but the John Hignett provided an update on the Bevil Oaks Municipal Utility District (BOMUD). BOMUD is getting 3 new pumps.
