321 Houston County Commissioners Meeting January2, 2024 Perry, Georgia The Houston County Board of Commissioners meti ina a regular session at 9:00 am onl Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Houston County Courthouse in Perry, GA, with Chairman Perdue presiding and Commissioners Byrd, Gottwals, Robinson, and Talton present. County Attorney Tom Hall and Director of Administration Robbie Dunbar were also present. Mr. Gottwals led those ina attendance int the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Byrd gavet the Invocation. Col. Ned Sanders, USAF (ret.), former Houston County Board of Commissioners Chairman, spoke of his time serving in the military. He spoke of attending the Citadel at age 17 on a scholarship, graduating asa2 2nd Lieutenant, and going through pilot training. He also spoke of serving in the Vietnam War and being assigned to Scott Air Force Base and later Robins Air Force Base where he eventually retired. He finished by speaking of running for and winning The Commissioners expressed their appreciationt tol Mr. Sanders for hiss service, patriotism, and leadership during his time as Chairman oft the Houston County Board of Commissioners. They statedt that any successest that Houston County was ablet to achieve under his leadership were made possible by the outstanding employees of Houston County and his fellow Motion by Mr. Gottwals, second by Mr. Talton, and carried unanimously by allt to approve the Mr. Talton presenteda a request from the City of Perryf for deannexation of property located on Motion! by Mr. Talton, second by Mr. Byrd, and carried unanimously bya all to concur with the deannexation of property located at 2440 GA Hwy 127, and 0 GAI Hwy 127.
