Minutes Forsyth County Animal Control Board On Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 6:00pm at Coal Mountain Park Community Building, the Animal Control Board held a Called Meeting with the following persons present: Dr. John McGruder, Chairman; Chris Grimes, Member; Scot Rucker, Member; Dominique Sheffield, Clerk; and Kara Davenport, Clerk. Also in attendance for Forsyth County: Haley Brown, Animal Services Supervisor; ASO Lauren Kirk; ASO Marisa Anderson-Hernander, ASO Taylor Test; Attorney Karen Pachuta. Adjournment 1. ANMLBIT-2301-00021 Magee, Monica (Bonez) Dr. John McGruder called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm. There were no Announcements. There was a motion by Scot Rucker and a second by Chris Grimes to adopt the agenda as presented. The vote passed unanimously. There were no comments at this time. Amotion was made by Scot Rucker and a second by Chris Grimes to adopt the minutes of the meeting from July 21, 2022 as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Dr.John McGruder announced the case to be considered. Haley Brown, Animal Services Supervisor provided an overview of the case along with photos and footage of the incident. Dr. John McGruder calls the victim for statement. The victim spoke of the details of the incident. There was a discussion as to the training that was received by the victim at the facility where the incident took place and where she was employed at the time of the incident. The Board then heard from the suspect dog owner. She went over the event as it appeared to her. There was a discussion about any prior incidents and the canine's temperament when near people. The spouse of the suspect dog owner then spoke at length of the training and general temperament of the canine as well as the boundaries that are set regarding behavior around the canine. There was discussion regarding the distance between the victim's face and the canine's face during the incident. Haley Brown presented paperwork from the boarding facility, video of the incident, and an explanation of the reason that the canine remains in the Forsyth County Animal Shelter as all parties live out of county and Gwinnet County required that canine quarantine out of county. Scot Rucker asked the victim for clarification on her association with the facility in which the incident took place as well as training received and her opinion on the fault of the incident. Haley Brown read the statement of the manager on duty during the incident. Dr.John McGruder asked for anything further. The suspect owner offered a witness statement to the temperament and character of the canine from a neighbor who was present at the meeting, Angela Mullins. Dr.John McGruder called for the board's recommendations. There was a motion Scot Rucker and a second Chris Grimes that the Animal Control Board not uphold the Dangerous classification on Bonez. The motion carried unanimously. Dr.John McGruder any other questions/comments, There was no other business to come before the Board. Dr. McGruder adjourned the meeting at 6:38pm.
