MINUTES  FORSYTH COUNTY CIVIL SERVICE BOARD THURSDAY,AUGUST 10, 2023 @ 10:00. A.M. FORSYTH COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COMPLEX 3520 Settingdown Road, Cumming, GA 30028  REGULAR MEETING  Present: Tim Perry, Chairman; Jerry Bowman, Vice Chairman; Terry Smith, Member; Jack Allen, Alternate Member; Richard Neville, Counsel; Kathy Echols, Clerk  I.  Calll Meeting to Order  Chairman Perry called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.  II. Adoption of Agenda  There was ai motion by Terry Smith with a second by Jerry Bowman to adopt the agenda  as presented. The motion passed unanimously.  III. Adoption of Minutes  Regular Meeting -July 13,2023  There was a motion by Jerry Bowman with a second by Terry Smith to adopt the minutes ofthe. July 13, 2023 meeting as presented. The motion passed unanimously.  IV. Items for consideration and discussion:  (1) Attorney Updates - Richard Neville, General Counsel/Hearing Officer Mr. Neville stated the appeal hearing for Mr. Archer was September 7th and gth. He wanted the Board to be aware that he received notice ofa court appearance at 1:30 on September gth. He stated that he could return on the next Monday. Mr. Perry stated that the Board plan on going to lunch time on the gth. Iftherei is a need to go past that, they could return on Monday. Mr. Perry stated the Board may have to go into (2) Administrative Updates - Kathy Echols, Civil Service Board Clerk Ms. Echols stated the updates concerned the next three points on the agenda. (3) Appeal oft termination ofLuke Velcheck, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Ms. Echols stated there was an informal appeal filed with Sheriff Freemen and it was denied. No formal appeal was filed. Ms. Echols stated it was listed on the agenda in the event he filed a formal appeal so that the Board could set the date for the appeal. (4) Update on Appeal oft termination of Zachary Archer, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Ms. Echols stated the multipurpose room had been reserved for the hearing. She stated there had been a request for subpoenas by the appellant for six witnesses. (5) Amend Civil Service Board Policy 2, Section 2 (c)(2)-E Board consideration to revise the method of conducting elections (postponed from the. July13, 2023 meeting) Civil Service Board Policy 2, Section 2(c)(2) was amended. Ms. Echols reviewed the changes to the Policy. There was a motion to adopt Policy 2 as corrected by Terry Smith with a second by Jerry Bowman. The motion passed unanimously.  Executive Session on. Monday. Adjourn  There was a motion by Jerry Bowman with a second by Terry Smith to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
