Call Meeting to Order Chairman Luth called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. II. Pledge of Allegiance III. Adoption of Agenda Vice Chairman Natt with a second from Member Tucker made a motion to adopt the agenda as prepared by staff. Motion carried unanimously. IV. Old Business A. Discussion of evaluation of precinct and polling places Director Smith stated this is a continuation of a discussion from the August 1, 2023 meeting with answers to follow up questions regarding the use of the City of Cumming Recreation and Parks facility during the 2024 election cycle. She said the City has reaffirmed the cost for the General Primary and General Election remains at $500 per day which is $25,500. She also stated there is no difference in price depending on which room we use. Director Smith said there will be no charge for the use of the facility as an Director Smith provided the Board with the code section which states municipal governing authorities shall not be compensated for the use of Attorney Pachuta stated that state law says no compensation should be paid for the use of the facility. She said she would email the board with legal options but would not recommend paying $25,500. Vice Chairman Natt stated he thought the cost should have decreased from the initial estimate which was thought to include the Presidential Director Smith said we could open the warehouse to accommodate more The Board discussed the possibility of not using the City facility for Advance Voting for the General Primary but only using it for Advance Member Tucker asked Director Smith if the City Council had been included in the discussions.
