JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT ********PRESS RELEASE*H#: November 1, 2023 On Wednesday November 1, 2023, at approximately 11:45 am, Officers with the Amador County Probation Department observed a male subject at or near the. Jackson City Cemetery. The male, 40-year-old Jeffery Kay was currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). The officers attempted to contact Kay but Kay started walking away ignoring the officer's commands tos stop. Kay led the officers westbound through Detert Park, across Highway 49, up the hill toward the Amador County Unified School District Offices and then onto the. Jackson Junior High School campus' parking lot (Hoffman Street side). It was there that Kay turned, and became combative towards the officers. Kay was tased by the pursuing officers but the Taser was ineffective. Kay continued to be combative while resisting arrest and the officers were able top physically subdue him where he was ultimately controlled and handcuffed. Once Jackson Police was notified oft the incident and the Taser was deployed, the school was notified to Jackson Police Officers responded to assist Probation. After the scene was stabilized and Kay was removed from the school campus, officers conducted a protective sweep oft the school grounds for any contraband that may have been discarded by Kay. Nothing was found and the school administrators were notified they could lift the lockdown order. Kay was transported to the hospital for medical clearance before he was booked into jail at the Amador County Sheriff's Department. No children or school staff were threatened or harmed during this event and no weapons were used or brandished by Kay.
